The Need: Securing a High-Stakes Chemical Site
THOR SARL is a leading manufacturer and international distributor of specialty chemicals, including preservatives, disinfectants, and flame retardants. Their extensive 39,000 m² production facility in Salaise-sur-Sanne (FRANCE) hosts 60 employees daily.
Given the nature of their operations, THOR required a high-performance audible and vocal alert system to manage their Emergency Response Plan (POI) and ensure maximum site safety. They partnered with ae&t to design a scalable and reliable alert solution.
The Solution: Multi-Phase SmartVOX® Implementation
Following a comprehensive on-site acoustic audit, the installation was carried out in two strategic phases to meet evolving safety requirements:
Phase 1: Emergency Response Plan (POI)
Seven SmartVOX® wireless alarms were deployed to alert staff and visitors effectively. These units were pre-configured for four critical scenarios: Shelter-in-Place, Shelter-in-Place All Clear, Test Alert, and STOP. Each scenario broadcasts a specific alert tone followed by clear voice instructions.
Phase 2: Off-site Emergency Plan (PPI)
To alert people outside the site perimeter, two additional SmartVOX® outdoor alarms were installed. A six-button wireless control box was also added to the system, ensuring rapid activation tailored to each specific emergency scenario.
A key advantage of the SmartVOX® system is its radio communication technology, which eliminated the need for complex inter-device wiring. ae&t managed the full on-site commissioning to guarantee optimal performance.
